Keeping children safe
Every child has the right to be safe. This page explains how we protect children and how we handle your personal information.
Our child protection commitment
JEHO Children's Home is committed to protecting every child in its care from abuse, neglect, exploitation and harm. The best interests of the child come first in every decision.
- Staff and volunteers must understand and follow the home's child protection policy
- Volunteers must be 18 or older and provide valid identification
- Visits and volunteering are supervised; we do not offer unsupervised access to children
- Children are listened to and their concerns are taken seriously
- Concerns are recorded and acted on promptly, in line with Kenyan child protection law
Safe visiting & photography
- Visits are arranged in advance with the home and supervised by a member of staff
- Please do not photograph or film children without the home's permission
- Never share photos of children, or details that could identify them or where they sleep, on social media without the home's written consent
- Do not give children gifts, money or personal contact details, or arrange to meet them outside the home
- Photos on this website are published only with the home's approval and, where applicable, the consent of a child's guardian. Stories use changed names.
Report a concern
If you are worried about a child's safety or wellbeing, tell us straight away. You do not need proof, only a genuine concern.
If a child is in immediate danger, call the police on 999 or 112. In Kenya you can also call the free Childline Kenya helpline on 116.
Privacy notice
We handle personal information in line with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.
