Who we are
The purpose and values behind JEHO Children's Home.
Where we began
JEHO began in 2004 in Mukuru kwa Njenga, Nairobi, with thirteen children sharing a single iron-sheet room with the directors.
As the number of children grew, space became a challenge, so another room was rented: one for the girls and one for the boys. Feeding the children was hard in those years, and the home depended on well-wishers.
By God's grace, the children were later moved to a more spacious place in Pipeline estate. That home was launched in 2008 with about sixty children, and the home remains there today.
Over the years JEHO has been a real home for many children. Many have grown up and now have families of their own.
What guides us

Mission
Offering a loving environment with access to specialised care for child protection.

Vision
Equipping children with the necessary life skills and education so they are not defined by their past but by the potential of their future.
What we set out to do
- To empower the community with skills and information on child protection
- To educate the community on children's rights and welfare
- To develop practical solutions to the emerging needs of children in the community
- To guide and empower orphaned and vulnerable children with coping skills and improved livelihoods
- To develop a resource centre where issues affecting children are recorded and shared with the community
- To provide orphans and vulnerable children with care and protection as set out in Kenya's Children Act
How we work
Integrity
Inclusiveness
Accountability
Transparency
The home brings up children with personal values so that they can fit into the community after they leave. We focus strongly on integrity and on the courage to face the world. With morals declining in our community today, it is our assignment to teach children core principles, prepare them for a better lifestyle, and restore healthy morals through them to the community.
